Wonderia Crafting Guide
Wonderia crafting deep dive: workbenches, storage adjacency, cheaper swords and 35% repairs in v0.5.8.2116, durability notes, cooking loops, and multiplayer production.
Wonderia Crafting Guide
Crafting is Wonderia’s quiet endgame loop hiding inside the first hour. Workbenches turn scrap landscapes into tools, meals, weapons, and vehicles. This guide focuses on station setup, storage adjacency, recipe pacing, and the v0.5.8.2116 economy changes: cheaper swords, 35% repair multipliers, and durability retunes that keep 1–8 player lobbies supplied.
Browse the items hub for catalog context, then return here when a recipe stalls. For pull-range layout detail, see workstation storage.
Workbench philosophy
Every station answers three questions: what it unlocks, what it eats, and which chests must sit nearby. Place benches before you decorate. A gorgeous manga cottage with a lonely bench outside adjacency range is a trap.
Post-launch QoL expanded workstation storage pull range by one tile in every direction and fixed the range indicator’s size (2116). Use the indicator—do not guess.
Starter production triangle
- Basic workbench for tools and early building pieces.
- Storage spine sorted by ore, organic, and blocks.
- Campfire / kitchen for converting crops and forage into real food.
Add smelting and advanced gear benches only after the triangle runs without babysitting.
Storage adjacency tips that actually matter
- Keep a one-tile service alley behind benches for future chests.
- Put high-frequency mats (wood, stone, plant fiber analogs, copper) in the closest containers.
- Park quest items far from auto-pull so you do not donate the wrong story object mid-craft.
- In co-op, forbid “mystery junk” chests within pull range.
- After moving a bench, craft a cheap recipe to verify pulls still resolve.
When the UI claims you lack materials you can see in a chest, walk the adjacency boundary before ranting in Discord.
Recipe pacing for Early Access
A healthy craft order mirrors survival pressure:
- Gathering tools (axe/pick equivalents).
- Hoe, watering can, fishing rod for the food engine.
- Basic weapons that match your preferred style (see equipment).
- Copper-tier upgrades and drill-related parts for the classic bottleneck (copper, Hand-crank Drill).
- Bags / inventory expansions when available (“Pack More, Panic Less” energy).
- Vehicle deployables once roads matter (vehicles).
- Specialty temple kits—bombs, keys, puzzle tools—on demand.
Cheaper swords (2116)
Sword crafting costs were reduced in v0.5.8.2116 across copper / tin / hematite ingredient lines. Recheck recipes in-game after patches listed on /updates/—your muscle memory from launch weekend may overspend.
Durability and repair crafting (2116)
Metal tools and weapons received durability buffs in the same balance patch (tin pieces toward higher ceilings such as 300, many hematite tools toward 400, pickaxes even higher, copper tools retuned). Repair material cost multipliers fell from 50% to 35%. Still:
- Craft a backup copper pick before long mines.
- Repair at base, not at the boss door, when possible.
- Track ingot sinks in the resource planner.
- Do not confuse “cheaper repairs” with “unbreakable”—temple greed still shatters neglected gear.
Farming, cooking, and the craft loop
Wonderia wants you to grow alien gardens and cook harvests. Crafting is not only metal:
- Seed → crop → meal chains reduce reliance on Compressed Biscuits.
- Fish and forage recipes cover exploration days.
- Kitchen placement beside pantries stops eight hungry co-op players from raiding the ore chest for snacks.
Food no longer drains passively after 0.5.8.2116, but expedition eating and healing items remain relevant (survival). Rohen packs of five help plug gaps.
Multiplayer crafting etiquette
- Call dibs on rare cores/bones in chat.
- Batch crafts: one player smelts while another tills.
- Donation quests now grant full skill-point rewards to non-hosts (2116)—craft extras intentionally for turn-ins.
- If joiners spawn without materials, point them to starter biscuits/bandages mirrored by the 2106 hotfix.
Troubleshooting missing recipes
- Wrong bench tier.
- Biome-gated material not yet gathered.
- Storage too far for auto-pull (false “missing” ingredients)—remember the +1 tile range.
- Patch changed quantities—verify against Steam news.
- You are in personal craft UI instead of station UI.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Wonderia questions.
Why can’t my Wonderia workbench find my chest items?
The chest is probably outside the station’s storage pull radius. Move storage closer, watch the range indicator, and remember pull range expanded by one tile in v0.5.8.2116.
What should I craft first?
Gathering tools, then farming/fishing tools, then a basic weapon. Copper upgrades and portable vehicles come after the food loop stabilizes.
Did sword recipes get cheaper?
Yes. Community patch notes for v0.5.8.2116 reduced copper, tin, and hematite sword ingredient counts. Always recheck in-game after updates.
How much do repairs cost after v0.5.8.2116?
Repair material multipliers fell to 35% (down from 50%). Durability was also raised on many tin and hematite tools/weapons; copper tools were retuned.
How do I avoid co-op crafting chaos?
Sort chests, assign smelting vs farming roles, and keep quest items outside auto-pull range. See multiplayer tips.
Where do vehicle parts fit in the craft order?
After basic tools and food infrastructure. Visit the vehicles guide before sinking every ingot into cars.
Is cooking considered crafting?
Yes—kitchens convert crops and catches into progression fuel. Place them beside pantries inside adjacency range.
